a=one angle b=other angle=(1/3)a-20
a+b=180 degrees Substitute for b
a+((1/3)a-20)=180 degrees Add 20 to each side
(4/3)a=200 degrees Multiply each side by 3/4
a=150 degrees ANSWER 1: One angle measures 150 degrees.
b=(1/3)a-20=(1/3)(150)-20=50-20=30 degrees ANSWER 2: The second angle is 30 degrees.
