I am trying to install a satellite dish that needs to be set at 30 degrees
(as in the top needs to slope backwards 30 degrees).
Although there are calibrations on the bracket, there is no marker to align those degrees to.
The dish is 1000mm in size with a 200mm clearence from the floor.
so using a marker rod the top of the dish is at 1200mm.
How many millimetres should I bend the top away from the vertical marker rod to achieve 30 degrees please

You have to spec the distance from the pivot point to the floor.

if i understand you correctly, the top of the center of the antenna is 1200 mm above the ground.

1000 mm is from the top of the center of the antenna to its base.

200 mm is from the base of the antenna to the ground.

you want to tilt the antenna 30 degrees from the vertical.

my calculations indicate the following.

if you tilt the antenna 30 degrees from the vertical then the height of the antenna should be 1066.0254038 mm measured from the top of the middle of the antenna to the ground.

if you cannot measure from the top of the middle of the antenna, but can measure from the top edge of the antenna, then the height to the ground from there is dependent on the width of the top of the antenna dish divided by 2.

the formula in that case would be as follows:

1066.0254038 - x * sin(30), where x is the distance from the edge of the antenna to the top of the middle of the antenna.

since sin(30) = 1/2, this formula becomes 1066.0254038 - 1/2 * x.

for example, assuming the distance from the edge of the antenna to the middle of the top of the antenna is equal to 100 meters, then the distance from that edge to the ground is 1066.0254038 - 100 * sin(30) which is equal to 1066.0254038 - 50 which is equal to 1016.0254038 mm from the ground.

the following pictures show you what i mean.

i haven't shown you the calculation but can do so if you need them.

it just takes more time than i have right now to go through it.

i have checked them out to confirm i did this right and i'm reasonably confident that i did.

if you measure vertically from top center of the antenna to the ground, the distance should be 1066.05... mm.

if you measure vertically from the lower edge of the antenna to the ground, the distance should be 1066.05 minus 1/2 * the radius of the top of the antenna.

this assumes that the edge of the antenna is the same height as the middle of the antenna when the antenna is facing vertically up.

after you do that, you can see how many clicks it traversed and that should give you an idea about how many degrees per click for future reference.
