I have problems solving this problem. I really do not understand how to start first. Please help me somebody.
Recall that 2 angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90. Find the measures of two complementary angles if one angle is 4 times the other angle. What is the smaller angle?

Find the measures of two complementary angles if one angle is 4 times the other angle. What is the smaller angle?

Equations:
x + y = 90 degrees
x = 4y
-------
Substitute for "x" and solve for "y"::
4y + y = 90
5y = 90
y = 18 degrees (smaller angle)
