This has me completely stumped :-(
(the question shows up with A very skinny, but I typed it to look like a hallway. Hope that isn't confusing. A is width of the verticlal hallway; B is the width of the horizontal one.)

The problem is a lot harder than I initially thought and unfortunately it requires knowledge of calculus to fully understand how they get the solution (as shown in the page below)
