Question 815451: two angles are complementary.the measure of the larger angle is 20 degrees morethan the measure of the smaller angle..give the measure of the two angles
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = measure of smaller angle
x + 20 = measure of larger angle {larger is 20 more than smaller}
Complementary angles add up to 90°.
x + x + 20 = 90 {added the two angles and set equal to 90}
2x + 20 = 90 {combined like terms}
2x = 70 {subtracted 20 from each side}
x = 35 {divided each side by 2}
x + 20 = 55 {substituted 35, in for x, into x + 20}
smaller angle measures 35°
larger angle measures 55°
