Question 760066: Find the length of the three equal sides of an equilateral triangle with height 18 units
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
An equilateral triangle has 3 x 60 degree angles.
With a height of 18 units which becomes the
opposite side. The angle opposite to this side
= 60 degrees.
To find the length of a side of the triangle
solve for sin = opposite/hypotenuse
The hypotenuse is the side of the triangle.
sin 60 = 18 units/hypotenuse
Hypotenuse = 18/sin 60
Hypotenuse = 20.8 units
Therefore the length of the three equal
sides = 62.4 units (3 * 20.8)
Hope this helps.
