Complementary angles add to 90 degrees. So a+b = 90 and a's complement, b, is 90-a.


a is one eighth as large as its complement. So a = (90-a)/8. Solve for a.


8a = 90 - a ... 9a = 90.. a = 10.


10 is 1/8 as large as 90-10 = 80.
