Let a = one angle
Let b = the other
From the problem statement we have
(1) a + b = 180
and
(2) (a+b) - (a-b) = 116
Simplifying (2) we get
(3) 2*b = 116, or
(4) b = 58
Then from (1) we get
(5) a = 122
Let's use (2) to check our answer.
Is ((122+58) - (122-58) = 116)?
Is (180 - 64 = 116)?
Is (116 = 116)? Yes
Answer: The two angles are 122 degrees and 58 degrees.
