What is the measures of two complementary angles such that the larger angle is six less than twice the smaller angle?

Let x be the smaller angle and y be the bigger angle
x + y = 90 ( sum of complementary angles is 90 degrees)
y = 2x - 6
Substitute the second equation into the first equation for y:
x + (2x - 6) = 90
3x - 6 = 90
3x = 96
x = 96/3
x = 32
y = 2(32) - 6 = 64 - 6 = 58
So the small angle is 32 degrees
The large angle is 58 degrees.
