Answer by funmath(2933) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If P is the measure of an angle, 180 - p is the measure of the supplemen of the angle. If the measure of an angle equals three times the measure of its supplement, what is the measure of the angle?
Let the supplement be: x
Then the angle is: 3x
Total when added: 180
x+3x=180
4x=180
4x/4=180/4
x=45
The supplement is: x=45 degrees
The angle is: 3x=3(45)=135 degrees.
:
Sanity Check: If you add these two angles together, do you get 180?
45+135=180?
180=180!!! Looks Valid.
Happy Calculating!!!
