8x-52 = 180
8x = 180 + 52
x = 232/8
= 29

combine like terms 6x and 2x and the numbers -32 and -20 to get 8x - 52 = 180. now add 52 to both sides, inverse operation, and get 8x = 232, last divide 232 by 8 and get 29.
