Question 493303: A 40 in board is to be cut into three peices so that the second piece is twice as long as the first piece and the third piece is 5 times as long as the first piece. Find the lentghs of all three pieces.
Answer by cleomenius(959) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a = x
b = 2x
c = 5x
x + 2x + 5x = 8x
8x = 40
x = 5
5 + 10 + 25 = 40
This does check.
