Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90 degress. If angle A and B are complementary and angle B is 18 degress greater than angle A, find the measure of each angle.
Let x = measure of angle A
then
x+18 = measure of angle B
.
x + (x+18) = 90
2x+18 = 90
2x = 72
x = 36 degrees (angle A)
.
Angle B:
x+18 = 36+18 = 54 degrees
