two complementary angles are (a+20*) and (a+30*).what is the value of a?
.
I'm assuming the * indicates degrees.
.
When two angles ar complementary, the sum is 90 degrees giving us our equation:
(a+20) + (a+30) = 90
2a + 50 = 90
2a = 40
a = 20 degrees
