"Two angles are supplementary. The measure of the larger angle is twice the measure of the smaller angle. Find the measure of the angles."

Supplementary angles add up to 180°

x = one angle
180 - x = other angle {the two angles add up to 180°}

180 - x = 2x {the measure of the larger is twice the measure of the smaller}
180 = 3x {added x to both sides}
x = 60 {divided both sides by 3}
180 - x = 120 {substituted 60, in for x, into 180 - x}

the two angles are 60° and 120°
