"Supplementary angles. Two angles are supplementary.If one angle measures 45° less than twice the measure of its supplement, find the measure of each angle."
Supplementary angles add up to 180°.
x = one angle
180 - x = its supplement {supplementary angles add up to 180}
x = 2(180 - x) - 45 {one angle is 45 less than twice its supplement}
x = 360 - 2x - 45 {used distributive property}
x = -2x + 315 {combined like terms on right}
3x = 315 {added 2x to both sides}
x = 105 {divided both sides by 3}
180 - x = 75 {substituted 105, in for x, into 180 - x}
105° and 75° are the two angles
