The supplement of an angle is twice the measure of the angle itself. find the angle.
:
We know the supplement of an angle = 180 - the angle
or
supplemental angles add up 180 degrees
:
let a = the angle
then
(180-a) = the supplement of the angle
:
Write an equation for the statement:
"The supplement of an angle is twice the measure of the angle itself."
(180-a) = 2a
180 = 2a + a
180 = 3a
a =
a = 60 degrees is the angle
:
If you substitute 60 for a in the original equation, you will confirm it
