The measure of an angle is 4/5 of the measure of its supplement. What is the measure of the angle of its supplement?
--------------
Let the angle have measure = x.
Its supplement has measure = 180-x
----------------
Equation:
x = (4/5)(180-x)
----
x = 144 - (4/5)x
---
(9/5)x = 144
x = 80 degrees (the angle)
180-x = 100 degrees (its supplement)
