"An angle is half the size of its compliment. What is the measure of the larger angle."
--------------------------------------
Let the angle be "x".
Its complement is 90-x
-----
Equation:
x = (1/2)(90-x)
x = 45 - (x/2)
(3/2)x = 45
x = 30 degrees
----
The complement is 90-30 = 60 degrees.

So where are your notes? Did you tear the pages out the book and eat them?
Neither 36 nor 54 is correct.
It should have been x+1/2x=90
3/2*x=90
3x=180
x=60
x/2=30
How did you get x= 36 from X+1/2=90 ?
