Complementary angles add to 180 degrees, or
X + Y = 180.
If one angle is 19, then the other is 180 - 19 or 161 degrees.

The complement of an angle is the angle that, when added to the given angle, totals 90 degress. The supplementary angle adds to 180.

So if the given angle is 19, then the complementary angle is 90-19=71.

Drk you are wrong the complement of an acute angle (less than 90 degrees) is 90 minus the angle which is 71 degrees in this case.
This should not be confused with the SUPPLEMENT of an angle.
