Question 229631: find two consecutive integers such that the larger, added to eight times thesmaller, equals 110
Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x & x+1 be the 2 integers.
8x+x+1=110
9x=110-1
9x=109
x=109/9
x=12.111 is not an integer.
Did you mean to say 2 even integers?
If YES then:
8x+(x+2)=110
9x=110-2
9x-108
x=108/9
x=12 ans. for the sma;ller integer
12+2=14 ans. for the larger integer.
Proof:
8*12+14=110
96+14=110
110=110
