Let x=angle
Then 180-x=supplement of the angle
---
We have the equation:
180-x=x-44
2x=224
x=112 degrees

The measure of the angle's supplement is 44 less than the measure of the angle. find the measure of the angle's supplement.

Step 1. Let x be the measure of the angle

Step 2. Let 180-x be the supplement of the angle where by definition when the sum of two angles = 180 then they are supplementary to each other.

Step 3. Given,

180-x=x-44

based on the problem statement that the supplement 180-x is 44 less than angle x.

Now add x+44 to both sides to isolate x in one side.

180-x%2Bx%2B44=x-44%2Bx%2B44

180%2B44=2x

224=2x

x=112

Step 4. Angle x=112 and its supplement is 180-112=68. Note the supplement of 68 is 44 less than the angle 112.

Hope this helps! Good Luck in your studies!! Dr J
