Question 159422: the length of a rectangular field is 10 meters less than four times its width. it cost $1584 to put a fence around the field. If the fencing cost 4.80 per meter what is the area of the field?
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1584/4.8=330 METERS OF FENCING IS NEEDED.
330=2X+2(4X-10)
330=2X+8X-20
10X=330+20
10X=350
X=350/10
X=35 METERS IS THE LENGTH.
4*35-10=140-10=130 METERS FOR THE WIDTH.
PROOF:
330=2*35+2*130
330=70+260
330=330
