what does x and y equal?

Answer by t_as87(5)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You need to get all the like terms together on each side...
so 4y = x + y + 10
Subtract y from both sides to get
3y = x + 10
Now divide both sides by 3

if you want a formula for x
using the 2nd equation: x = 3y - 10
