The measure of an angle's supplement is 24 less than twice the measure of the angle. Find the measure of the angle and it's supplement.
:
Let x = "the angle"
Then
(180-x) = it's supplement
:
Write an equation for what it says:
(180-x) - 24 = 2x
180 - 24 = 2x + x
156 = 3x
x =
x = 52 is the angle
and
180 - 52 = 128 is the supplement
:
:
Check solution in the given statement:
128 - 24 = 2(52)
