Question 157885: Two angles are supplementary of each other. Twice one angle is equal to the other angle minus the product of six and eight.
Set up a system of linear equations to represent the two angles and graph each of the equations on one rectangular coordinate system.

A + B = 180 degrees
2*A = B-48
A is angle A
B is angle B is the supplementary angle to A.
48 is the product of 6 * 8.
if 2*A = B-48, then A = (B-48)/2
substituting in the first equation (A+B=180), we get
(B-48)/2 + B = 180
multiplying both sides to remove the fraction, we get
(B-48) + 2B = 360
which becomes
3B - 48 = 360
which becomes
3B = 360 + 48 = 408
which becomes
B = 408 / 3 = 136 degrees
if B is 136 degrees than A must be 180 - 136 degrees = 44 degrees.
answer looks like B = 136 degrees and A = 44 degrees.
substituting values in the equation 2*A = B-48, we get
2*44 = 136 - 48 which becomes
88 = 88 which proves the calculated values for A and B are correct.
