a is the angle
s is its supplement.
you are given that the angle measures 158 less than its supplement.
this means that a = s - 158.
replace a with that in the formula of a + s = 180 to get s - 158 + s = 180
combine like terms to get 2s - 158 = 180
add 158 to both sides to get 2s = 338
solve for s to get s = 169
since a + s = 180, then a has to be equal to 11.
your angle is 11 degrees.
the supplement to your angle is 169 degrees.
11 + 169 = 180 degrees. there the supplement to the angle of 11 degrees is 169 degrees.
169 - 11 = 158 degrees means the angle is 158 degrees less than its supplement.
