Let an angle = 62+x
Let the other angle = x

Complementary angles add up to 90 degrees:

One angle = 14 degrees and the other angle = 76 degrees.

The statement of the problem is faulty. "a complementary angle" could be ANY angle less than 90 degrees.

The statement of the problem has to say that the other angle is THE complemetary angle of the given angle:

"An angle measures 62 degrees more than THE COMPLEMENT OF THE ANGLE"

or

"An angle measures 62 degrees more than ITS COMPLEMENT"

Let x be the given angle
Then (90-x) is the complementary angle

The angle is 62 degrees more than the complementary angle:
