x = first angle
2x+6 = 2nd angle
Write an equation with the sum of the two angles on the left side and 90 on the right side.
Solve for x.
You should find x=28, 2x+6=62

let x = the first angle.
let y = the second

second angle is 6 degrees larger than 2 times the first angle.

equation for that is y = 2x + 6

x + y = 90 because the angles are complementary.

replace y with 2x + 6 and you get:

x + 2x + 6 = 90

subtract 6 from both sides and combine like terms to get:

3x = 84

solve for x to get x = 84/3 = 28 degrees.

y = 2x + 6 = 2 * 28 + 6 = 62

28 + 62 = 90 so the angles are complementary

62 = 2 * 28 + 6 = 56 + 6 = 62

all checks out.

first angle is 28 degrees

second angle is 62 degrees.
