Question 1092115: The sum of the angles in a triangle is always 180 degrees. In a particular triangle there the middle angle is six less than twice the smallest angle, and the largest angle is the sum of the smaller angles?
Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Smallest angle: x
Middle angle - six less than twice the smallest angle: 2x-6
Largest angle = sum of smaller angles: x+2x-6
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's put it all together
Smallest angle + middle angle + largest angle = 180
Use the equivalent values above:
Smallest angle: x
Middle angle: 2x-6
Largest angle: x+2x-6
All together:
x+2x-6+x+2x-6 = 180
Group like terms:
x+2x+x+2x-6-6 = 180
Simplify:
6x-12 = 180
You can do it from here, it goes like this:
6x = 192
x = 32
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Check:
6x-12 = 180
6(32)-12 = 180
192-12 = 180 Correct.
