Question 1055823: Can you please tell me the formula I need to find the solution for this question. "What is the measure of an angle if it is 180 less than 5 times its own complement?" I am taking an online course that doesn't explain anything very well and I am having a lot of trouble on this subject. I am very thankful to whomever decides to help me.
Answer by htmentor(1343)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Complementary angles add up to 90 degrees. Let A = the angle, then 90 - A is its complement
So we can write A = 5(90-A) - 180 [180 LESS than 5 times its complement]
Solve for A:
A = 450 - 5A - 180
6A = 270
A = 45
Ans: 45 degrees
Check: 45 ?= 5*45 - 180 = 225 - 180 = 45
