In general 'to bisect' something means to cut it into two equal parts.
The 'bisector' is the thing(usually a line) doing the cutting into two
equal parts.

In an angle bisector, it is a line passing through the vertex of
the angle that cuts it into two equal smaller angles.


In the above diagram, line AD bisects the AngleBAC.
AngleBAD+=+AngleDAC
Each point on the line AD(angle bisector) is equidistant from the
line AB and line AC.
