 Question 29958: 3(2x-1)=27 Use the distributive Property! 3(2x)= 6x and 3(-1) = -3 so 6x-(-3)=27 6x+3=27 Now you must get the variable by itself on one side, so subtract 3 from both sides which will get you 6x+3-3=27-3 the +3-3 cancel eachother out, and 27-3 is 24. 6x=24 Now you must solve for the x variable, so you divide both sides by 6, which will give you 6x/6=24/6 The 6's cancel out, which leaves x on the left side, and 24 divided by 6 is 4, Hence, x=4.
