a television addict can buy either two televisions and three video recorders for $1750 or four televisions and one video recorder for $1250. find the cost of one of each.
---------------------
Let cost of TV's be "t"; Let cost of VCR's be "v"
--------------
EQUATIONS:
1st: 2t+3v=1750
2nd: 4t+ v=1250
-------------
Multiply 1st be 2 to get:
3rd: 4t+6v=3500
------------------
Subtract 2nd from 3rd to get:
5v = 2250
v = 450 (cost of a Video Recorder)
-------------
Substitute into 2t+3v=1750 to solve for "t":
2t+3*450=1750
2t+1350 = 1750
2t = 400
t = 200 (cost of a TV)
