first set some variables. Lets set the baseball cards equal to b and the football cards equal to f. The total number of cards is 360. This can be expressed by:

The problem tells us that there are 30 more baseball cards than twice the number
of football cards. This can be expressed by:

Since 30+2f is equal to b you can replace the b in with 30+2f
Now we have an equation with one varialbe to solve for

First combine like terms 2f+f = 3f

Next subtract 30 from each side of the equal sign

Finally solve for f by dividing both sides of the equal sign by 3

Now that we have found the number of football cards we can plug that value for f back in to the original equation

Now to solve for b just subtract both sides by 110

So we find that there are 250 baseball cards and 110 football cards to check these answers just replace the b with 250 and the f with 110 in
