A long wire is cut into three smaller pcs in the ratio of 7:3:2
We are given that the shortest piece is 16 cm, then the ratio factor is 8 (8*2 = 16),
therefore the longest piece is 7*8 = 56
perimeter (P) of a rectangle is 2l + 2w where l is length and w is width, then
2l + 2w = 56
divide both sides of = by 2
l + w = 28
Area (A) of rectangle = l*w
we want the maximum area of A, remember that all squares are rectangles but all rectangles are not squares
therefore,
max A = 14 * 14 = 196 cm^2
