Question 895203: A machine to a million a brass plate has a set up cost of $600 and a unit cost of $3 for each plate manufactured.A bigger machine has a setup cost of $800 but a unit cost of only $2 for each plate manufactured.Find the break point.
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
600 + 3x = 800 + 2x
Subtract 600 from each side
3x = 200 + 2x
Subtract 2x from each side
x = 200 <-break point
.
At 200 units, the first machine will cost $600 + ($3*200) = $1200
At 200 units, the second machine will cost $800 + ($2*200) = $1200
