Question 895001: Solve using substitution:
X+2y=14
2Y=x-10

Answer by harpazo(655)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+2y=14
2y=x-10
Look at your question.
Let us solve x + 2y = 14 for x and then plug that into the other equation.
x = 14 - 2y.
See what I did?
We now plug this information into 2y = x -10.
2y = 14 - 2y
2y + 2y = 14
4y = 14
y = 14/4
How do you think we can find the value of x?
Select EITHER equation given, replace y with 14/4 and solve for x.
I'll let you do that.
