Question 8267: How do you find the slope of a line without using a graph? For example with the equation
The slope of y = -X -9
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Remember the "slope-intercept" form of the equation of a line? y = mx + b
m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. Your equation is already in the slope-intercept form:
y = -x - 9
y = mx + b So, you can see that m in your equation is -1 because -x = (-1)x and the slope is m so the slope is -1, and all this without using a graph.
