Question 760402: Solve for x: 0.7x+0.04=2.49
Answer by DrBeeee(684)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 Given:
(1) 0.7*x + 0.04 = 2.49
Now subtract 0.04 from each side and get
(2) 0.7*x + 0.04 - 0.04 = 2.49 - 0.04 or
(3) 0.7*x = 2.45
Now divide each side of (3) by 0.7 and get
(4) 0.7*x/0.7 = 2.45/0.7 or
(5) x = 3.5
Let's check this using (1).
Is (0.7*3.5 + 0.04 = 2.49)?
Is (2.45 + 0.04 = 2.49)?
Is (2.49 = 2.49)? Yes
Answer: The solution is x = 3.5
