Question 73661: i need to learn how to slove linear equations.
y=1/6x-3
how do i solve that?

Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
THE SOLUTION TO THIS EQUATION IS TO SET Y=0 & SOLVE FOR X. THEN SET X=0 & SOLVE FOR Y.
Y=1/6*0-3
Y=-3 THIS POINT IS (0,-3)
0=1/6X-3
X/6=3 NOW CROSS MULTIPLY
X=18 THIS POINT IS (16,0)
THE GRAPH OF THIS LINE FOLLOWS:
(graph 300x300 pixels, x from -20 to 20, y from -10 to 10, y = x/6 -3).
