Question 672197: Your friend tells you she is twice as old as her little sister, who is not yet a teenager. How old could your friend be?
(This seems so simple that I am not sure what the answer or how to solve)
Answer by neatmath(302) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The younger sister can be at most 12 years old,
since she is not yet a teenager.
So, your friend could then be at most 24 years old or
In theory, your friend could then be almost zero years old,
all the way up to 24 years old.
For instance, if the younger sister was 1 week old, your friend would be 2 weeks old.
But for the sake of this question, they wanted to know your friend's maximum age, not their minimum.
In fact, there is no true minimum age that your friend could be, in theory.
But practically, she would have to be at least a few minutes old if she was born as a twin with the younger sister!
I hope this helps! :)
