Question 403163: Solve using linear combination method.
4x-3y=1; 2x+y=3
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4x - 3y = 1---->4x - 3y = 1 {top equation stays the same}
2x + y = 3----->6x + 3y = 9 {multiplied bottom equation by 3}
10x = 10 {added the two equations together}
x = 1 {divided both sides by 10}
2x + y = 3 {bottom equation}
2(1) + y = 3 {substituted 1 in for x, into bottom equation}
2 + y = 3 {multiplied 2 by 1}
y = 1 {subtracted 2 from both sides}
