(1+y^2)/y =2
multiply by y
(1+y^2)=2y
y^2-2y+1=0
(y-1)^2=0

y-1=0
y =1

The only solution for this system of equations is x=1 and y=1, or the point (1,1).

Basically, the solution (1,1) is the intersection of the two functions:

y=1/x which is a curve (specifically, a hyperbola)
