Question 333784: I have tried this problem eight times with no correct answer. The problem says to solve the equation: 5/x+1 - 5/2= 4/3x+3
The the foward slash means that it is a fraction... i didnt know of any other way to do that. I also know that each side should be multiplied by the least common denominator of 6(x+1) and i did that but i am not sure where i went wrong...can someone please help!!
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5/x+1 - 5/2= 4/3x+3
-------------------
Eliminate the fractions.
Multiply thru by 2(3x+3) note: 3x+3 = 3(x+1) so all fractions will be gone.
30 - 5*(3x+3) = 8
-5*(3x+3) = -22
3x+3 = 22/5
3x = 22/5 - 3 = 7/5
x = 7/15
