Find the equation of the inverse of f(x) = 7x+3/8
f(x) = 7x+3/8 ----(1)
Multiplying by 8 through out
8f(x) =56x + 3
8f(x)-3 =56x
Dividing by 56
[8f(x)-3]/56 = x
That is x= [8f(x)-3]/56
The inverse of f(x) is given by x= [8f(x)-3]/56
Verification: Putting x= [8f(x)-3]/56 in (1)
RHS = 7{[8f(x)-3]/56 } +3/8
=[8f(x)-3]/8 +3/8
=8f(x)/8 -3/8+3/8
=f(x)+0
=f(x)
=LHS
