Question 29774: Solve for x to four decimal places: e^2x =3
Answer by sdmmadam@yahoo.com(530) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
e^2x =3 ----(1)
Applying definition:
log(N) to base b = p implies and is implied by N = (b)^p
and here N=3, b= e the Napierian base and p = 2x
Therefore (1) implies
log(3) to the base e is =(2x)
That is (1.0986) = 2x
(from the tables under natural logarithms you will find log(3.0) = 1.0986)
2x= 1.0986
x = 1.0986/2 = 0.5493
Answer: x = 0.5493
