2x+y=1
Substitution might be the harder way to solve this
Elimination would be
Subtract the two and get
-5y=5
y=-1
2x-1=1
2x=2
x=1
However we will do it by substitution.
Solve the second for y
y=1-2x
Substitute 1-2x for y in the first
2x-4(1-2x)=6
2x-4+8x=6
10x =10
x=1
y=1-2(1)
y=1-2
y=-1
