Question 255587: what is the solution set to:
4x-y=9
x+3y=16
Answer by palanisamy(496) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The given equations are,
4x-y=9 ...(1)
x+3y=16 ...(2)
(1)*3=> 12x-3y=27 ...(3)
(2)+(3)=> 13x = 43
x = 43/13
Substituting in (1),
4*(43/13)-y = 9
172/13-9 = y
(172-117)/13 = y
y = 55/13
Therefore the solution is
x = 43/13 and y = 55/13
