y - 5x = -10
y - 3x = 8
Multiply the bottom equation by -1 to help eliminate the y
y - 5x = -10
-y + 3x = -8
Add the equations together
-2x = -18
x = 9
insert the x into the previous equations
y = 45 - 10
y = 27 + 8
y = 35
x = 9
